BECKS AFRIK KUSTOM FASHION
*My motivation for creating Becks Afrik Kustom Fashion*
Growing up, I was surrounded by my mother and grandmother sewing. They taught me how to hem, and I quickly developed a passion for sewing. In Grade 2, I won an award for needlework, specifically with machine stitches, which further motivated me. I enjoyed playing with my grandmother's electric sewing machine and started drawing my own styles and patterns. I loved selecting fabric colors and blending them together in my sewing projects,

In secondary school, I redesigned my uniform because I didn't like the pleats. I took my measurements, created a new design, and sewed an A-line uniform, which became my first handmade garment. Since then, I've been designing and sewing my own dresses. Although I occasionally use an electric sewing machine, I prefer hand-sewing and adding machine stitches and drawn lines for a personal touch.
I'm thrilled to be pursuing my passion, and I'm particularly drawn to the vibrant colors and versatility of Wax Prints. With a creative mind, the design possibilities are endless. At Becks Afrik, we're excited to feature wax prints and dresses made from them in our product lineup. We also offer customized dresses tailored to individual tastes and styles.

Industry leaders never said it was easy.
As much as I want to say it’ll be easy. It won't be. Industry leaders themselves have had to sacrifice and go through a lot of rejection. The key is to never give up. Just when you're ready to give up, that’s when it usually happens. Being persistent pays off in this industry. Confidence is one of the most important tools a person can have.
Just ask my Agent LISA MEUSER from the talent agency THE MEUS, voted BEST Agency in Ottawa by The Peoples Choice Faces Magazine Awards, in 2020. I'm sure she's had her trials and tribulations, as I've had myself, it's not all sunshine and lollipops, and its something you have to grind hard for.
